Antiviral sputtering processing (imparting antiviral functions to various substrates)
With Sekisui's unique nano-coating technology and sputtering technique, antiviral and antibacterial treatments can be applied to desired substrates such as fibers, non-woven fabrics, and films.
◆Differences from Conventional Technology Many conventional antiviral agents have the following issues: 1) They only have a persistence of a few days to a few weeks. 2) Many are ineffective against norovirus. 3) Many lack antibacterial and antifungal effects. 4) They use solvents and binders, resulting in a high environmental burden. We propose methods to address these challenges. ◆Issues That Can Be Resolved and Effects of Technology Application 1) Metal films can be deposited on substrates using sputtering technology, allowing for long-lasting effects (currently confirmed to last over six months). 2) They are highly effective against norovirus, making them ideal for food-related materials. 3) This single film is effective against viruses, fungi, and bacteria, allowing for simplification of constituent materials. 4) They are environmentally friendly as they do not require solvents or binders. 5) The texture of the substrate after film formation does not change the breathability, even when applied to precision materials like HEPA.
